Seoul at the cusp of spring is romantic. The weather is just right: crisp, but not freezing. Trees have shed most of their color, and there's a stillness in the atmosphere. The city is quiet just like the air. A contrast to the last time I was here in November, when the hills were colored with red and orange, as the city prepared for winter. Panu, a friend from the Education University of Hong Kong, previously studied here and showed us his old haunts.
Of course, I revisited Gyeongbokgung Palace, this time arriving from another end.
At night, it gets chilly, which makes for a great stroll up to Seoul Tower. Its light against the fog has an ominous effect on the ambience. Silence and stillness surround us.
The last day, we head to Nami Island. They might as well call this Lovers' Island since the amount of couples is ridiculous. Most Koreans I saw were here with their partners. I can see why. Instead of long walks on the beach, it's all long walks or bike rides in the park here during the end of winter. The brownness makes a perfect backdrop (so perfect, that I believe they've filmed some K-dramas here).
